Holy Mountain Retreat Center, June 19 – 21

Deacon Dan Giblin leads a lively and spiritual weekend for all men and women in recovery. June 19- 21.

If Your House is in Order

It’s simple, but it’s not easy. It’s a discipline of self-honesty over control of others!

The 10th Step reminds us to focus on our own recovery, our own behavior, and our own spiritual condition—before trying to fix or judge anyone else.

    • Am I being honest?
    • Am I resentful, fearful, or selfish right now?
    • Do I owe someone an amends?
  • It implies cleaning up your side of the street, not managing someone else’s.

There’s also a humility component:

  • You don’t sponsor, advise, or correct others from a place of superiority.
  • You stay aware that your own defects can re-emerge quickly if unattended.

In day-to-day behavior, it looks like:

  • Not getting pulled into gossip or criticism
  • Taking responsibility when you’re wrong—quickly
  • Maintaining your practices (meetings, prayer/meditation, service)
  • Not using other people’s problems as a distraction from your own work

“My job is my side of the street. Their side is none of my business.”
