From Greccio to Graymoor: An Open House of Crèches

From Greccio to Graymoor: A Crèche Open House in two locations:

Top of the mountain: 5th floor Holy Mountain Retreat Center, 40 Franciscan Way, Garrison, NY 10524

Bottom of the mountain: Our Lady of the Atonement Retreat House, 41 Old Highland Turnpike, Garrison, NY 10524

On Christmas Eve in 1223, in a cave outside the Italian hill town of Greccio, St. Francis of Assisi gathered a manger, a bed of hay, an ox and a donkey, and invited his neighbors to come by torchlight and see the humble birth of Christ with their own eyes. It was the world’s first nativity scene, and the tradition he began has carried down through eight centuries of Franciscan hearts and hands. This season, the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement invite you to continue that journey at Graymoor. Join us for a Sunday open house and tour of our crèches, gathered from near and far, each one telling the story of the night God made room for us. Come wander, wonder, and make a little room for yourself.

Sunday, December 6, 12 PM – 2 PM

Creches will remain on display Wednesday – Sunday, 9 AM – 4 PM in both locations through
