The Friars of the Atonement present a seminar for all ages:

Brave New Church: Artificial Intelligence, Faith, and the Future of Christian Life

Join theologian Ilia Delio to explore how evolutionary theology and ecumenical witness can inform ethical engagement with AI and the emerging post-human questions. The program includes a keynote, seminars, an ecumenical roundtable, and practical workshops for parish and institutional leaders.

Who should attend? Clergy, religious, lay leaders, theologians, pastoral ministers, students and anyone interested in theology and technology.

Ilia Delio, O.S.F., Ph.D. is a Franciscan Sister of Washington, D.C. and a theologian specializing in science and religion. In her latest book, Re-Enchanting the Earth: Why AI Needs Religion, scientist and theologian Sr. Ilia takes up the challenge of reconciling evolution and religion with particular attention to the role of artificial intelligence. She argues that AI represents the latest extension of human evolution, which has implications not only for science but also for religion. Her presentation will educate and uplift, as she remains hopeful about our future.

Ilia Delio, A theologian, author, and professor, holds the Josephine C. Connelly Endowed Chair of Theology at Villanova University. Sister Ilia is the founder of the Center for Christogenesis, an online educational resource that promotes the vision of Teilhard de Chardin: the integration of science and religion.  She is joining us to speak on the future of the church in relation to artificial intelligence.  Sister Ilia’s keynote address will be on Friday night. Saturday brings more insights and group discussions.  Come to spend the night, commute, or Zoom in.
